Privacy Policy

This policy applies to the Elorah mobile app and the Elorah website at elorah.app. Elorah is a Bible companion that helps you read scripture, understand what you are reading, save what matters, and return the next day with a clear next step. When we say "we", "us", or "Elorah", we mean the team that builds and operates Elorah.

Elorah is local first. Your reading progress, plans, notes, highlights, reflections, and saved content are created and stored on your device. You can read and use the core parts of Elorah without an account.

Some features need to talk to our servers. Signing in, cloud backup, restoring data on a new device, notifications, subscriptions, and AI help all require a connection. The sections below explain what is involved.

Account information

If you create an account, we store your email address and an optional display name. We sign you in with a one time code sent to your email, so we do not store a password.

Device and technical information

To keep the app secure and working, we may store a device installation identifier, your app version, and the general technical details of a sign in session, such as an approximate IP address and device type. If you turn on notifications, we store a push token so we can deliver reminders.

Subscription information

Elorah Plus is sold as an in app subscription. Payments are handled by Apple and processed through RevenueCat. We receive your subscription status and an app user identifier so we can unlock Plus features. We never see or store your card number or full billing details.

Backup data

If you turn on cloud backup, a copy of your saved reading data is stored on our servers so you can restore it later. This backup is protected in transit and at rest. Backup is optional and can be turned off.

AI features

Breakdowns and Council send the passage or question you ask about to AI model providers so they can generate a response. We use this only to answer you. We do not use it to build an advertising profile, and we do not sell it.

Feedback you send

When you send feedback or contact support, we store your message, an optional contact email, your device and app version, and any screenshot or file you attach, so we can help and improve Elorah.

Usage and stability

We use privacy friendly product analytics to understand how features are used and to catch crashes and errors. This tells us which screens are opened and where the app breaks. It does not include the text of your scripture reading, notes, or highlights.

Website

If you join the waitlist on elorah.app, we store the email address you provide so we can tell you when Elorah is available.

We use the information above to:

• provide, maintain, and improve Elorah
• sign you in and keep your account secure
• back up and restore your saved reading data when you ask us to
• generate breakdowns and Council responses
• send reminders and notifications you have turned on
• manage your Elorah Plus subscription
• respond to your feedback and support requests
• understand product usage in aggregate and fix problems

• We do not sell your personal information.
• We do not show ads or run advertising networks inside Elorah.
• We do not read the content of your notes, highlights, or reflections to profile you.
• We do not share your data with anyone except the service providers listed below, and only so they can help run Elorah.

We use a small set of trusted providers to run Elorah. They only process data on our behalf and under their own privacy commitments:

• Apple, for App Store distribution and subscription billing.
• RevenueCat, to manage subscription status.
• AI model providers, to generate breakdowns and Council responses.
• Product analytics and error monitoring, to improve stability.
• Our hosting and database providers, to run our servers and store account and backup data.

We may disclose information if the law requires it, to comply with a valid legal request, to protect the safety and rights of people or of Elorah, or as part of a merger or transfer of the service. If that ever happens, we will still handle your information under the spirit of this policy.

We keep account and backup data for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, we remove your account data and cloud backup within a reasonable period, except where we must keep limited records for legal, security, or accounting reasons. Aggregated analytics that cannot identify you may be kept to understand long term trends.

You are in control of your data. You can:

• export a copy of your saved reading data from the app
• turn cloud backup on or off at any time
• turn notifications on or off in the app or in your device settings
• delete your account and cloud backup from within the app
• ask us to access, correct, or delete your personal information

To make a request, email us at privacy@elorah.app. We may need to confirm your identity before we act on it.

Elorah is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you are under the age of digital consent in your country, please use Elorah with a parent or guardian. If you believe a child has given us personal information, contact us and we will remove it.

We protect data in transit with encryption, and cloud backups are encrypted at rest. No service can promise perfect security, but we work to protect your information and to limit who can access it. If we ever become aware of a breach that affects you, we will act promptly and let you know where the law requires.

Elorah is available in more than one country, so your information may be processed on servers located outside your own country. Wherever it is processed, we apply this policy and take steps to protect it.

We may update this policy as Elorah grows. When we do, we will change the date at the top, and we will give clearer notice for material changes. Continuing to use Elorah after an update means you accept the new policy.
